The Aliveness Blend
"I don't have to wait for the day to give me a vibe. I can become an ingredient in the day."
The Possible Ingredients Recipe
Ingredient One: I am an ingredient in this day
Which ingredient do I want to bring the world today?
We aren't merely receiving the morning, afternoon and evening. We are participating in its recipe.
Ingredient Two: Wherever I go, I add something
Imagine if we wake with the intention to bring goodness into the day in some way.
It changes everything.
You walk into the coffee shop, you become an ingredient in that room. You become part of that recipe. What will you bring? What will you be? What will you take with you when you leave?
You pass someone on your walk, you become an ingredient in that tiny encounter. It makes that random tiny encounter not seem so small.
You laugh, notice, encourage, create, forgive, help, let go, wonder, get curious, smile, listen... What ingredient are you becoming, entering, absorbing, creating each day?
Come inside
Ingredient Three: You don't have to change the whole world
One person can bring patience into traffic.
Someone brings warmth into a checkout lane
One person can bring playfulness into their neighborhood.
Someone brings composure into a meeting.
Someone brings encouragement into a family dinner.
Someone can bring curiosity into a disagreement.
Ingredient Four: You Contribute Who You Are Becoming
How will I enter the day?
What energy am I contributing to the world around me? To my family? To strangers on the street? To random humans I pass by who don't smile or wave first, but maybe... I can.
"I don't need the day to come alive for me. I can bring aliveness to the day."
Ingredient Five: What Can I Purposely Deliver to This Day
I affect the recipe simply by participating in it. Imagine if I choose what that will be? Imagine if I get creative and decide what I want to deliver to this day.
I affect the recipe:
at home
around the table
walking into work
joining a project
having a conversation
speaking in a meeting
answering the phone
entering a difficult conversation
when my family is confiding in me about something important, something that truly matters to them
when posting something online
when walking into any room...
I get to CHOOSE
what I deliver to this day.
and... You don't have to be THE Recipe
You don't have to save the room, fix everyone, manufacture happiness, be endlessly positive. You simply ask:
What could I add here?
That could be aliveness this morning, composure at noon, clarity at work, curiosity at the dinner table, ingenuity on a project, grace on a hard day, audacity in a stale conversation and suddenly you are a blend of ingredients contributing recipes.
And always if possible add one final ingredient:
A generous splash of "let's see what happens.
You don't have to predict the day. You don't have to perfect it. You don't even have to feel ready for it.
Just choose what you'd like to bring into it.
And if you got this far, I will give you my secret ingredient:
A clean slate
Give to everyone
And that includes YOU.
Every day...
